Dog Park Rules
Following are the dog park rules for Barkham at Markham Dog Park. These rules are pretty standard at all Fort Lauderdale dog parks. For more information about dog park rules, visit the City of Fort Lauderdale website.
- All dogs must have a license tag and proof of current rabies and vaccinations.
- Dog handlers must stay within sight of their dogs at all times.
- Aggressive dog owners will be asked to remove their dogs from the park.
- Annoying or provoking dogs should leave the off-leash dog area.
- Puppies under 4 months of age are not permitted.
- Cleaning up after your dog is mandatory and your responsibility.
- During peak times, visits can be limited to one hour.
- Only three dogs per adult handler are allowed.
- Children must be supervised at all times by an adult.
- Dog handlers are solely responsible for their dogs.
- Dog handlers must have one leash per dog within reach.
- Dogs in heat are not permitted.
- Stop dogs from digging and fill in any holes created.
- Food of any kind is prohibited.
- Spiked or pronged dog collars are not permitted.
- Respect patrons’ requests regarding their dogs.
- No animals other than dogs are permitted.
- Dogs must be on leashes when entering and exiting the off-leash area.
- Unleash your dog upon entry into the dog park. It is common for A leashed dog to feel threatened by other dogs moving freely.
- All dog bites or injuries must be reported to park office before leaving the park.
- Dog pools and community water bowls are prohibited.
Safety Tip: When several dogs gather together in a pack, it can lead to trouble. Please separate your dog from a pack and move them to a neutral area. It is important that handlers be aware at all times, so their dogs can have fun and relax at any of the many Fort Lauderdale dog parks.
