Municipal vs. Public Golf Courses

Both municipal and public golf courses are open to the public. The major difference between the two types of courses has to do with ownership. Municipal golf courses are generally owned and/or managed by the city or county in which they reside. Public courses are privately owned.

In general, municipal courses have lower green fees than public courses. Some municipal courses offer a preference in tee times and prices to residents.
