About Oakland Park
The City of Oakland Park, Florida is centrally located in the eastern section of Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County. Boundary lines for the city extend as far as US1/Federal Highway to the east, almost as far as US441/State Road 7 to the west, just beyond West Cypress Creek Road to the north and slightly south of Oakland Park Boulevard. Adjacent cities include Fort Lauderdale and Wilton Manors.
Oakland Park is one of the oldest municipalities in Greater Fort Lauderdale, dating back to 1925 when it was chartered as the Town of Floranada (a combination of Florida and Canada). At the time, the area was mostly a farming town. Today, there is a nice mixture of Oakland Park homes and businesses.
