About Lauderdale By The Sea

Lauderdale By The Sea is a quaint beach town in the northeastern section of Broward County/Greater Fort Lauderdale. Although the town is only 1.57 square miles, there are many types of Lauderdale By The Sea homes. Types of homes include condos, townhomes, multi-family homes, single-family homes and estates.

The Town of Lauderdale By The Sea was first incorporated in 1927. Through the years, the town has strived to maintain its charm by limiting building heights along the beach. In contrast, neighboring cities of Pompano Beach to the north and Fort Lauderdale to the south allow much taller structures.

In 2016, the town began a multi-million dollar project to revitalize the area. Improvements included new street lights, wide tree-shaded sidewalks, landscaping, multiple seating areas, a new public restroom, Anglin’s Square renovation and marine artwork.
