When we’re not selling beautiful homes and providing exceptional service, everyone at Luxury Living Fort Lauderdale enjoys a nice meal! So, we’ve complied a list of our favorite new restaurants in Fort Lauderdale for you to consider. Our criteria for ranking these new restaurants was pretty simple, they had to have opened within the last year or so, offer delicious food and have a great atmosphere.

Here’s our list of Fort Lauderdale’s best new restaurants for 2016 (in no particular order):

1. Burlock Coast Seafare & Spirits

Burlock Coast 2016 Best New Restaurants

Burlock Coast has brought a hip and relaxed atmosphere to the Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale. The restaurant takes up a good portion of the hotel’s first floor and features a Florida-inspired menu with many locally sourced food items. The bar extends from inside the restaurant to the outside patio. In addition to wine and libation offerings typical of an upscale restaurant, they also have a keen selection of rums — not surprising for a place named after a South Florida coast that was once used to smuggle rum into the country! Views of the Atlantic Ocean enhance the pleasant dining experience.

2. Boatyard (formerly Bimini Boatyard)

Boatyard Restaurant Fort Lauderdale

In its heyday, Bimini Boatyard was one of the premier waterfront dining restaurants in Fort Lauderdale. Time took a toll on the restaurant and it became stale. Owners hired Tim Petrillo’s Restaurant People (folks responsible for popular restaurants like S3, YOLO, Fork and Ball, and Tarpon Bend), remodeled the space and changed the name to Boatyard. We are happy to report the changes are terrific! In addition to a rolling raw bar, the menu has lots of delicious surf and turf items to choose from. A welcome staple carried over from the former restaurant is Bimini Bread, a delicious addition to any meal! If you’re arriving by boat, try calling ahead and speaking to the dock master to make sure there is space for your vessel.

3. Louie Bossi

Louie Bossi Italian Restaurant Fort Lauderdale

While this location has seen different purveyors over the years, we think Louie Bossi did an amazing job with the space. You can still dine inside or on the front terrace. What’s been added is a partially covered outdoor space in the back of the restaurant. Longtime locals will remember this space as being a parking lot. Today it has been transformed and looks like a quaint street in Italy. On the menu you’ll find lots of items that are made in-house, like pasta, pizza dough, charcuterie, gelato and cannoli shells. They even dry-age their own beef!

4. Country Ham N’ Eggs Bar & Grill

Country Ham N Eggs Fort Lauderdale This isn’t your typical diner. The interior is upscale and includes a full bar. The menu has all the delights you would expect from a popular neighborhood diner, serving traditional American breakfast and lunch entrees. The portions are generous and the staff is friendly. We’re still working our way through the menu, but we have yet to be served a meal we didn’t like!

5. Pizzacraft Artisan Pizza

Pizzacraft Artisian Pizzeria Fort Lauderdale Best New Restaurant 2016
Pizzacraft Artisan Pizza is the latest venture from JEY Hospitality. These are the folks responsible for other popular Fort Lauderdale restaurants like ROK:BRGR and Tacocraft. While wood fired pizza is more mainstream these days, what makes this eatery more special are the side dishes (or “snacks”) and pastas. We found the house made polenta fries and meatballs unique and delicious, as were the handcrafted pastas.

6. Top Hat Delicatessen

Top Hat Delicatessen Fort Lauderdale New Restaurant 2016
Owners of Coconuts, G&B Oyster Bar, Red Cow and Foxy Brown have brought us another treat of a restaurant, with a twist. This New York-style deli has a modern spin. Staples on the menu that you would expect include Reuben and Rachel sandwiches, bagels and cheese blintzes. On the unexpected side of the menu are things like Good Morning Ramen and craft cocktails.

7. Smoke BBQ

Smoke BBQ Fort Lauderdale
This is the second location for Smoke BBQ, with the first being in Palm Beach. The Fort Lauderdale location offers a more relaxed atmosphere, plus a new and expanded menu. Barbecue fans have lots to choose from, including brisket, pulled pork, three different kinds of ribs and chicken. Some items are so popular that it’s not uncommon to see lines forming before the restaurants opens at 11:00 AM!

8. Rhythm & Vine

Rhythm and Vine Fort Lauderdale
Full disclosure, Rhythm & Vine is actually a bar/lounge. They qualified for our best new restaurants in Fort Lauderdale list because of the food truck stand area. The outdoor patio has a spot where a different food truck serves from every day, making each visit to this hip location interesting and tasty! The atmosphere is more West Hollywood, CA or Wynwood, FL. In addition to the outdoor area pictured, there is also an indoor lounge and bar.
