Narrow Bottles and Vases
Uncooked rice can clean bottles with narrow openings more efficiently than a bottle brush. Start by filling your bottle 1/2 to 3/4 full of warm water. Next, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of uncooked rice to the bottle. Shake the bottle vigorously for a few minutes with the palm of your hand sealing the open end. Repeat as necessary until your bottle or vase is clean.
Coffee Grinder
Even though your coffee grinder looks clean, chances are the oil from coffee grounds are sticking in places you can’t see or reach. To get a really clean grinder, try using uncooked rice. For a regular blade system, add uncooked rice up to the height of the unit’s blades; for burr grinders, you will only need about 3 teaspoons of uncooked rice. After running the grinder for a few minutes, you will find the rice is coated in sticky brown residue. Discard the dirty rice and enjoy your clean coffee grinder!
