While stainless steel kitchen appliances are still popular in homes, there are changes on the horizon and they seem to be inspired by the iconic iPhone.
Whirlpool recently unveiled their new Ice Collection, which was featured in the 2012 House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year. Since 2008 House Beautiful and Rockefeller Center in New York City have joined forces to build dream kitchens, which are unveiled for one week during summer.
The event attracts extraordinary and creative designers, who show off the latest design trends. This year’s kitchen was the creation of Mick de Giulio, an American designer noted for bringing distinction to kitchen interiors.
“Kitchens can get very complicated,” said De Giulio at a House Beautiful 2012 press conference. “I wanted to keep this simple and classic. It’s also a little bit glamorous.”
When creating the Ice Collection, the goal of the Whirlpool team was to create a simple, but sophisticated European-inspired style. Much like the iPhone, the White Ice Collection features shiny, crisp white surfaces, trimmed in stainless steel. The overall appearance is sleek, like the iPhone!
