UPDATE: The David Cassidy home in the Fort Lauderdale neighborhood of Harbor Beach sold at auction for $1.86 million to an undisclosed buyer.
Entertainer David Cassidy, best known for his role as Keith Partridge in the popular 1970s television show The Partridge Family, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February 2015. As part of the proceedings, Cassidy asked the court for permission to auction his waterfront home in the Fort Lauderdale neighborhood of Harbor Beach. According to Fisher Auction Company, the court granted permission Thurdsay, June 16, 2015.
The Greater Fort Lauderdale MLS records indicate that Cassidy purchased the luxury home in 2001 for $1.1 million. He then reportedly spent about $1 million in renovations that expanded the home to almost 7,000 square feet of living space, with 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen, a resort-style swimming pool and professional designer elements. Spared during the renovations was a fuchsia bougainvillea plant that Cassidy estimates is over 50 years old.
In 2013 the Harbor Beach home was on the market for $4.495 million. The Broward County Property Appraiser values the property at $1.968 million.
The live auction is scheduled to take place Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Included in the auction will be the Harbor Beach home and all of its furnishings. Only registered bidders will be allowed to participate. The final contract price is subject to U.S. Bankruptcy Court approval.
