2017 Best New Restaurants Fort Lauderdale

Our criteria was pretty simple; restaurants had to have opened within the last year or so, offer delicious food and have a great atmosphere.

Here’s our list of the 2017 best new restaurants in Fort Lauderdale (in no particular order):

1. Doc B’s Fresh Kitchen

Doc B's Fresh Kitchen 2017 Best New Restaurants Fort Lauderdale

Doc B’s Fresh Kitchen is a refreshing dining experience off the beaten path of Las Olas Boulevard. The restaurant has an open kitchen concept with a large bar and lots of additional seating options inside and out. During peak hours, the atmosphere inside can be lively (which some might call loud).

This Chicago-based eatery is best known for seasonal, house-made entrees. We’ve tried just about everything on the menu and had no complaints.  From big salads to gourmet entrees and even their signature Wok Out Bowl, there’s lots to choose from.

While it looks like Doc B’s shares the Fresh Market parking lot, don’t be fooled! You must use the valet service to park your vehicle. If you chance parking in the Fresh Market parking lot, you might have a nasty surprise after your delicious meal.

TIP: If you have a drink at the bar, you will likely be treated to their complimentary candied bacon strips. They are savory and sweet, with a warm kick at the end.

Be Nice restaurateur Elliot Wolf, who brought us  popular eateries like Red Cow, Coconut’s, Foxy Brown, Top Hat Deli and G&B Oysters, has a new spot to add to his growing portfolio. Lunchroom had such great success as a lunch only spot that they expanded to breakfast.

Everything on the menu seems to made with high-quality ingredients, which is reflected in the prices. There are lots of traditional options, as well as those with the unique Lunchroom spin. Two crowd favorites are the Buffalo Cauliflower sandwich and Avocado Toast.

6. MidiCi The Neapolitan Pizza

MidiCi Neapolitan Pizza Fort Lauderdale

Midici offers gourmet pizza with a unique dining experience. Pizza dough is prepared within sight behind a glass-walled room that is said to be kept at the optimum dough temperature of 61 degrees. The dough remains in that room until it is needed at the open-concept preparation area. As soon as your toppings have been added, your pizza is quickly ushered into a 1,000 degree oven that will cook your pizza to perfection in about 90 seconds.

As for the dining experience, there are no televisions in this establishment. Also, tables are a bit closer together. These are both conscious decisions to encourage patrons to have conversations, both with their party and with neighboring folks.

7. Nisí

Nisi Fort Lauderdale

Nisí is one of the more upscale Greek restaurants in town. It is located where Thasos used to be. While the layout of the restaurant is pretty much the same, gone is the South Beach vibe. The decor is now warmer, thanks to tastefully placed wood accents and new seating options.

On the menu you will find the usual delicious Greek dishes like lamb chops, grilled octopus and salads. Nisí also has a nice selection of fresh seafood. A dining experience enhancement we enjoyed was the house-baked olive bread and olive oil from Greece, to which our waiter added fresh clippings of oregano at our table.

TIP: Ask to see the fresh fish of the day. Clear eyes is said to be a sign of fresh fish.

Located in a side room at Cargo Furniture, overlooking the Middle River, is The Revenant Coffee House & Eatery. The unique location offers brewed coffees and teas, as well as light breakfast and lunch items.

This is a very hands-on eatery. They roast coffee beans and make fresh items (pastries, chapa rolls and naan) every morning. Their coffee uses a syphon-brewed method, which yields a lighter and more aromatic cup of coffee. For the adventurous coffee drinker, you can try your next cup of java infused with things like rosemary and spices.
